White Blood Corpuscles(WBC)
White Blood cells are also called as Leucocytes. They helps the body to protect against diseases and infections. WBC is larger than RBC in size. About 4000 to 10,000 WBC are present in one ml of Blood. there There are mainly 3 types of WBC - 1.neurophils 2.lymphocytes and 3.monocytes.
1. Neutrophils - Develop in the bone marrow and they attack the infecting organism at the site of infection. The swallow the bacteria and chew them up. This process is called as phagocytosis.
2. Lymphocytes - There are 2 kinds of lymphocytes and both of them form in bone marriw. They are T cells and B cells. Lymphocytes controls immunity. The lymphocytes produces anti-bodies against the infecting organism to protect our body from diseases.
3. Monocytes - They take part in the process of fighting infections. Monocytes are also produced in the bone marrow.
